Food for thought

Its been 4 months since I last posted. That's a maaaaad fail from myself. I must admit its been a tough start to the year with the elections coming up tomorrow, and looking through all the final submissions these politicians have made. About how they intend to better the country and our lives as kenyans in general. 
One of the things we are looking for in life is making it worth while or worth living.A fortnight ago we were hosting a couple of friends who decided to adopt an elephant at the David sheldrick wildlife trust. It was a reminder of how much we have lost through poaching. 
The trust adopts young elephants and sends them back to the wild. Watching these animals just got me thinking about how much we take for granted. Life,family, friends,health the list is endless. 
So as we go on to vote, lets vote wisely and appreciate the things we have. Because there's a whole lot to be grateful for. Here are some of the pictures i took.

The forgotten hero

When we think of power we always seem to think of super powers like the u.s or great waring nations that have been able to change the course of history through the great things they have done. For me there is one forgotten hero. Its praise always goes un noticed and the strangest part about it is, had it not been for it you wouldn't be where you are now. For the purpose of this post I will refer to it as her. She is the one who soothes the savage beast and is the very same one who calms all minds.
Her name is music... 
She was responsible for bring peace in Jamaica.. Thanks to the One love song by Bob Marley that brought the opposition and government together to stop the civil war in Jamaica.
I attended the Selah concert by pitch 5. It was amazing the power that music has to draw one close to God, to soothe the soul and all round change the feeling and mood of a person, people and situation.
I for one left feeling refreshed and renewed. So lets take our hats off for that one forgotten hero who always seems to brighten up dyas and gives us ways of expressing ourselves plus the pick me ups we always need.

Impossibilities made possible

When I was younger new beginnings were always something that I always looked forward to. I wonder what happend when it came to school as I grew older. Anyway new things are always a joy to come by. Life is always about improvement and growth and thats the direction I think everyone always aims for.
I happend to be part of a new beginning last week. It was refreshing and quite different from what I am normally used to. There was a lot of anticipation in regard to what it is that was being launched and finally it came through. With the catch  making the impossible possible.

One...

I recently got chatting with my friend about life and the things that bring people together. In my opinion there are three things that bring people together regardless of creed/race, ethnicity, social and or economic status and gender.

The three things in my opinion are weddings, sports and music. Well you could shoot down the aspect of weddings because of the whole issue of family representation and if families disagree they do so in unison. But in retrospect even if the family does unite against the wedding or for that one day nothing else matters its all fun and games.

Sports need i say more... its the origin of this post.it was so amazing to seek Kenyans urging on David Rudisha to win the gold in the London Olympics. People all high-fived', exchanged smiles and they had only met each other that night. For that one moment it was all ecstatic and nothing mattered. We were proud to be Kenyan.

Music though has the power to bring people of all generations and mind sets together. Bob Marley did it with his song One love.music is a glue that enables to link with the generations past and present. To appreciate soul music and incorporate it into the new generation music makes it a universal language. Not only does unite people it unites nations and cultures. Even with bands it is the same thing there are different people and different cultures all represented that come together as one. 

Today's post is different because there is only going to be one picture. actually not a picture but my new logo revealed, and some of the highlights of the pictures taken since I launched my blog. I hope this joins us together as well.

Black beauty

Isn't it amazing that every time people talk of similes in regards to attributes they always use animals. People refer to animals to make comparison for different things. One of the animals in my books that needs to be given a comparison is the African black Raven. Popularly referred to as a dark bird and used in most animations for the same purpose. Its either a witches pet or errand creature. I however, find them irritating,obnoxious and noisy. 

One hour of this bird cowing at your window can make you go mad.

However I happened to capture a couple of them not doing what they do best i.e. irritating humans. But complementing nature and thought it was worth capturing.

Road trips are times to sit back and enjoy the scenic beauty of our motherland. I travelled down to the coast last weekend. Interesting thing is no matter how many times I've been down that road, I never seem to get enough of the picturesque breath taking views. But truth be told the drive does get to you at some point. All you do is keep asking how much longer before we get there.

We finally got there and I took a stroll down the beach and came across some interesting animal. I had the opportunity to meet Halima the camel. I couldn't help but notice her nasty chewing habit and some what disjointed jaw in my opinion. She was adorned in Bouganvillia and was a sight for sore eyes. However she made me appreciate the beauty of being who we are. But more importantly accepting who we are, because who are is beautiful regardless of what people think or say.

Fun facts about camels:

• The name comes from the Arabic ǧml meaning "beauty".

• Camel milk doesn't curdle and has a laxative effect if consumed regularly

• Camels have split lips that help them graze and all eat all manner of things without injuring their mouths
